Do I need a high output alternator for my Silverado ?
I have a 2000 Silverado 1500 with a stock alternator. I will be pushing two Rockford Fosgate 12′s at 600 watts RMS each. I have one amp for each sub that run about 500-600 watts per. In addition, I will have a six channel Infinity amp powering the four door speakers plus two 6X9′s in the back next to the subs. This should bump me up another 450 to 500 watts RMS. I’m more or less new to stereo upgrades so can anybody tell me if I need a high output alternator. The figures I listed above are not near the maximum wattage and I plan on playin’ it loud. Thanks!!!
